Reduce system losses by maintaining generated power target values.
Wescon’s Automatic Voltage Control (AVC) application offers a secure, reliable and flexible mechanism to accomplish voltage regulation in power plant applications. AVC operates on a GE D20 (or D200) platform. The voltage regulation scheme is flexible and scalable to accommodate a wide range of power plant system topographies supporting up to 10 generators across ten busbars. On a power system experiencing varying loading conditions, this sophisticated application can effectively maintain a steady HV-busbar voltage reaching the target value. The AVC application computes the total reactive power according to the target voltage of the HV-busbar required by the dispatch center, the system impedance of the power plant and operational limitations to be considered and distributes total reactive power among the generators by following a preset strategy. The reactive power generated by each generator can be adjusted via the AVC application by sending increasing or decreasing pulse commands, or a DC analog signal to the excitation system.
Fault and alarm details, site information, one-line diagram displays are available to the system operator through a local user interface.
